How many times have you declined an opportunity and regretted your decision thereafter?

Principal consultant of SOAR Consulting and a frequent speaker to public and private sectors Professor Datuk Sheikh Omar A Rahman shares some of our common responses when presented with opportunities:

  • “Yes, please!”
We say this with much compassion and gratitude with every opportunity that comes our way.
  • “Yes, but…”
We say this when we are not so committed into doing the tasks required. There is an element of ‘what’s in it for me’.
  • “No, thank you.”

Essentially, as leaders, we need to let people seize the opportunities in front of them and guide them to turn those opportunities into action plans.
