Jack Welch started off by identifying where General Electric (GE) was and proceeded with outlining plans to overcome each of the problems that GE had. Everyone in GE hated him – he was once called “Neutron Jack” because of the plan that he executed. He thought that he had made the right decision, but then he realised what went wrong – he had been commanding people to do things.

He also realised that drawing a tactical strategy was easy, but getting the hearts and minds of people was difficult. It was then he decided to do a cultural transformation.
