Winston Churchill is often considered as a man of great persistence. A prominent leader and a man of distinguished character, Churchill’s quote resonates to the ears of many.

If you are going through hell, keep going.

Throughout our lives, in the sphere of our careers or even personal lives, we come across many obstacles that we feel are just too hard to overcome. We sometimes make it through without any scars or wounds, we sometimes get bruised in the process, and of course we sometimes give up altogether and find an alternative route for our life. The truth is, though, that hardship is what makes us who we are. Hardship gives us our unique characteristics, and the experience necessary to overcome future difficulties much easier.

It is therefore a shame to just give up and walk away. Many face serious issues in their career – many are those who do not see a way to move ahead, cannot get along with their bosses or colleagues, do not enjoy what they do, or perhaps find themselves in a dilemma as to what to do next. The important thing to remember is, life has many ups and downs, and it depends on us to choose the right path and make the most out of every situation.

So, if you are facing a tough time at work, do not give up! Do not walk away, just pause for a minute and analyse the situation, and see how best you should tackle it. Of course I am not asking you to stay at a job where you see no future or you absolutely hate; just make sure you evaluate your situation and pick your battles! Fight for the ones that are really worth it and you will emerge triumphantly!
