Community “A good company delivers excellent products and services; A great one delivers excellent products and services and strives to make the world a better place.” - Bill Ford, Executive Chairman, Ford Motor Group Leaderonomics in the Community was one of our core considerations when we first established the company. All the founders had been very involved in volunteerism and giving back to the community, in their previous roles and personal capacities. We believed that an organisation of people truly grows only when each adopts an attitude of giving back to society, with whatever resources are available, be they time, finance, skill or knowledge. This is true Leadership in Action, where no intention of reaping from what was contributed is expected, just simple acts of compassion that better the community we live, work and play in. In our Community We belong in a community. As part of the community, we have responsibilities to perform our work ethically and in ways that are not harmful to our communities. Everything that happens in our community affects us and vice versa. We have friendships to foster and long lasting relationships to build within our community For our Community We must give back to our communities from our hearts in forms of time, effort, skills, money and service. As we are blessed and receive from our communities, we in turn need to pay it forward to help the needy, to improve the community and to advocate for the communities we live, work, play in. With our Community We will work hand in hand with our communities to make our world a better place to live in, to work in and to grow up in, for our generation and for our future generations. What We Are Not •A company doing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) work merely as a form of advertising/branding/public relations improvement •A company doing CSR for the sake of compliance towards an internally or externally imposed target for social involvement (sometimes companies are ranked across what is called a CSR index) •A charity foundation responding to every request for a donation What We Strive To Be •People who understand that they belong to a community (family, friends, neighbours, colleagues, customers, etc.) •People who have a sense of social responsibility to help make communities better, stronger, and more vibrant •A company that instills in its employees and club members the philosophy of volunteerism and the joy of giving (a sense that it is better to give than to receive) •A company where its leaders are role models of servanthood, purity of heart, and sincerity of service to the community •A company that will stand out, in being respected for its volunteerism, and in being a leader in this aspect to influence other organisations to do the same Service, Education, Empowerment (SEE) Service •Activities directed towards meeting the needs of the poor •Relief activities •Non-highly-publicized cases, e.g. no donations to tsunami or earthquake victims •Genuine day-to-day cases among our communities •Includes monetary help in very selected cases Education •Activities directed towards education our communities, i.e. character trainings, skills trainings, tuition, reading drives, etc. •May be directed to schools, universities, parent workshops, families
Empowerment
•Activities directed towards helping groups of people develop an understanding of the social, political and economic factors affecting their lives
•Activities which strengthen these people’s awareness of their ability to improve their own lives
•Equipping them, encouraging, coaching, motivating and counseling them towards self-improvement
•May be more directed to minority groups, the poor, indigenous people groups, the uneducated, the mentally or physically challenged
